Principal Software Engineer (Energy & Commodities Trading)

We’re working with a fast-growing technology consultancy specialising in the Energy & Commodities trading space. Their modern engineering, AI, and data platforms deliver sophisticated solutions for global trading environments. Following rapid growth, they are hiring a Principal Software Engineer to lead complex, high-impact client engagements.

About the Role

This is a senior, highly visible position combining:

  • Hands-on technical leadership
  • Architecture design
  • Stakeholder management
  • Strategic delivery

You’ll collaborate directly with senior engineering leaders and business stakeholders to design and deliver greenfield platforms supporting:

  • Real-time trading operations
  • Analytics
  • Decision-making

The role sits at the centre of large-scale transformation programmes, including:

  • Cloud-native engineering
  • Distributed systems
  • Streaming technologies
  • Advanced data platforms

Preferred Background

  • Previous exposure to Energy, Commodities, or Capital Markets
  • Ability to operate confidently in client-facing and stakeholder-heavy environments
