Role Description
Principal software engineer- C#,.NET, React, SQL, Azure with BFSI exp
Location: London
Hybrid working with 3 days work from office -Mandatory
Permanent/ Fixed term/ Contract inside IR 35
Immediate start

Role Overview
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to join the Solutions Team supporting a business-critical front-office application estate. The role involves working closely with business users, operations teams, and technology stakeholders to provide application support, deliver enhancements, resolve incidents, and contribute to strategic transformation initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer who can bridge business and technology, while working within a fast-paced investment management environment. Over time, the role will also contribute to the migration, modernization, and rationalization of legacy applications onto strategic platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support and maintenance for business-critical front-office applications.
- Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve application, data, and performance issues.
- Develop and enhance applications using C#/.NET technologies.
- Design, develop, and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and database solutions.
- Build and support front-end functionality using React.
- Work closely with business users to understand requirements and deliver effective technical solutions.
- Produce operational and management reporting to support business activities.
- Participate in root cause analysis and implement preventative measures to improve system stability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on strategic initiatives involving application modernization and platform migration.
- Contribute to process improvements, automation opportunities, and best practices across the application estate.

Required Skills & Experience
Technical Skills
- Strong experience in C# and .NET application development.
- Solid experience working with SQL Server and relational databases.
- Experience developing and supporting React-based front-end applications.
- Experience troubleshooting production applications and managing application support activities.
- Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and best practices.

Domain Experience
- Experience within Financial Services, preferably Investment Management, Asset Management, or Fixed Income environments.
- Understanding of front-office workflows, financial instruments, or investment management systems is highly desirable.
Business & Stakeholder Management
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to interact confidently with business users and translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting front-office trading, investment, or portfolio management applications.
- Exposure to application modernization or legacy platform migration projects.
- Understanding of fixed income products, portfolio management processes, or investment operations.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments.
- Knowledge of cloud technologies (Azure preferred) would be advantageous.
