Job Opportunity: Planner

We are looking for an enthusiastic, ambitious and committed planner with experience of delivering strategic planning policy to join our team.

About the Role

York adopted a Local Plan in 2025, within which we are committed to the delivery of significant strategic sites for development and have introduced a Community Infrastructure Levy to fund required infrastructure alongside a wider programme to deliver high quality, sustainable development and place making across the city. York is also now looking to the future and initiating a new Local Plan to meet the city’s growth, social-economic and environmental ambitions. This role will support the Head of Strategic Planning Policy and Strategic Planning Policy Manager in delivering the Council’s planning policy aims and objectives for both the built and natural environment.

Key Details

  • Role Type: Hybrid
  • Location: West Offices, with significant flexibility for working from home

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
