Principal Subsea Development Engineer
Principal Engineer (Subsea Developments)
Atlas NextWave is supporting a leading international subsea engineering and offshore installation contractor in the search for an experienced Principal Engineer (Subsea Developments) to join their growing Front-End Engineering team.
This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior subsea professional who is already operating in a similar Principal, Lead, or Senior Subsea Development Engineering position and enjoys shaping projects from feasibility through concept selection and FEED.
Working across a diverse portfolio of global offshore developments, you will play a key role in developing technically robust, commercially viable subsea field solutions while engaging directly with clients and multidisciplinary project teams.
The Opportunity
As Principal Engineer, you will lead and support:
- Feasibility, concept selection and FEED studies for offshore developments
- Development of subsea field architecture and SURF solutions
- Technical evaluation of development options and execution strategies
- Client engagement and technical leadership throughout study phases
- Tender support and preparation of engineering work scopes
- Development of installation, fabrication, and execution philosophies
- Input to project schedules, cost estimates, and delivery strategies
- Technical reporting and presentation of study outcomes to stakeholders

What We're Looking For
Our client is particularly interested in speaking with candidates who bring a combination of the following experience:
Essential / Highly Desirable
- Current or recent experience in a Principal, Lead, or Senior Subsea Development Engineering role
- Strong background delivering feasibility, concept, and FEED studies
- Extensive experience within SURF developments
- Proven experience with flexible pipe systems
- Strong understanding of flexible pipe upheaval buckling assessments and mitigation
- Experience supporting spool design and fabrication
- Background working for a recognised engineering consultancy or design house
- Ability to develop and assess multiple field development concepts
- Client-facing experience with responsibility for presenting technical recommendations
- Degree qualified in Engineering or a related discipline

- Installation engineering awareness
- Subsea field layout development
- EPCI project exposure
- Offshore execution strategy development
- Cost and schedule input for early-phase developments
- Decommissioning, integrity management, or IRM experience
