SLR is a global sustainability consultancy helping clients deliver practical, sustainable solutions within a collaborative, people-first culture.

Our Sustainable Waste Management team is seeking an experienced waste and resource management specialist to support market due diligence, assessment and modelling projects for waste management companies, infrastructure developers and investors. You will help clients make informed investment and strategic decisions through robust analysis, modelling and clear presentation of findings.

This is a key role within an established team, with responsibility for project delivery, client management, business development and mentoring junior colleagues. We are looking for someone with strong experience across the waste, recycling and bioenergy sectors, ideally supported by an established industry network.

Hybrid working is available. Preferred locations are Bradford-on-Avon, Bristol, Birmingham and Edinburgh, although applications from candidates based elsewhere in the UK are welcome.

This is an excellent opportunity to take a leading role in a growing team, helping clients address resource management, circular economy and climate challenges through evidence-based, sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver market analysis and commercial due diligence for private sector clients, investors and developers
  • Lead complex waste flow, carbon and market modelling projects, using large datasets to generate insight
  • Provide technical advice on waste services, infrastructure, strategy, procurement and service improvement projects
  • Manage projects, budgets and client relationships to ensure successful delivery
  • Support business development through opportunity identification, bid preparation and client engagement
  • Stay informed on UK waste sector policy, infrastructure, market trends and emerging technologies
  • Mentor and develop junior team members

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
