Principal Systems Engineer
Principal Systems Engineer (Captor Radar Mark 2 Systems Test Solution)
Salary: £53,500 to £68,000
Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. The salary range shown reflects the approved grade band for this role or a narrower hiring range published within that band, benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are managed through governance controls to protect internal equity.
Your Impact
This Systems Engineering vacancy presents an exciting opportunity to join Leonardo UK and become part of the Captor Radar Mark 2 Systems Test Solution (STS) team.
As the Principal Systems Engineer, you will be an integral part of an engineering team responsible for:
- Designing, integrating, testing, and delivering the latest cutting-edge Captor Radar Test Equipment
- Working within both the Edinburgh Rooflab environment and offsite customer facilities
Key activities include:
- Capturing, flowing down, verifying, and validating system and subsystem requirements
- Playing a significant role in life cycle management of the project
- Assisting with PDR (Preliminary Design Review), CDR (Critical Design Review), and TRR (Test Readiness Review), ensuring company processes are adhered to and all TCU (Technical Configuration Control) records are updated
- Providing regular technical updates to the STS Project Execution Lead (PEL)
What You’ll Bring
- A degree qualification or relevant work experience in systems engineering or a related field
- A strong and diverse engineering background
- Solid knowledge of the full design life cycle process, including verification and validation (V&V) principles
- Ideal experience with Cameo Systems Modeler and DOORS tools, working in an Agile environment
- Ability to work effectively with and influence others in a dynamic environment
- Capacity to make informed decisions, synthesising information from various technical sources
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage with stakeholders internally and externally
- Strong time-management capabilities, particularly when juggling multiple tasks
- Excellent literacy and numeracy skills
- Willingness to travel within the UK and Europe as required
