Principal Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Systems Engineer to lead the development of aircraft landing gear systems, ensuring compliance with customer requirements, regulatory standards, and internal development processes. The role focuses on system development planning, requirements management, validation and verification, supplier technical oversight, and providing technical leadership across safety-critical programmes.

  • Lead system development planning in line with ARP4754
  • Capture, analyse, and manage system, sub-system, and equipment requirements
  • Own requirements validation and product verification activities
  • Maintain requirements management tools (e.g. IBM DOORS Classic / DOORS NG)
  • Produce systems engineering documentation (requirements, descriptions, V&V matrices, DDP dossiers)
  • Write specifications for landing gear equipment (hydraulic actuators, hoses, electrical harnesses)
  • Act as technical point of contact for external suppliers
  • Provide technical leadership and mentoring to systems engineers

Experience and Skills Required:

  • Experience with aircraft landing gear systems (ATA 32)
  • Strong systems engineering background
  • Mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical engineering experience
  • Knowledge of airworthiness and certification requirements
  • Experience with ARP4754 / ARP4761
  • Requirements management, validation, and verification experience
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills
