Principal Systems Engineer SISS

The successful SISS Principal Systems Engineer will lead end‑to‑end design and delivery of complex, safety‑ and mission‑critical CCTV and video management systems across transport environments. Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, and drive right‑first‑time engineering. This is an Agile role that will require flexibility to attend meetings at the office or client sites as needed by the projects.
What you’ll do:
Provide technical oversight and direction on quality-control tests on a new CCTV/video management systems and overseeing its construction/manufacture, development and deployment Be the point of contact for Technical escalation that needs discipline specific expertise Own the engineering lifecycle; from stakeholder requirements and Concept of Operations through HLD/LLD, integration, verification & validation (V&V), testing and commissioning, to handover and as‑built documentation. Will provide technical oversight on creating ideas for new products or services and drawing up plans for a new design. Acts as a mentor for colleagues with less experience Solves complex problems; takes a new perspective on existing solutions Ensuring projects are completed on-time with the specified budget.

Who you are:
The successful person may be a CRE or CEM, be in a position of Lead or Principal Engineer already or have engineering manager skills, is a specialist CCTV designer with experience of delivering SISS projects. If you have specialist in-depth experience of complex safety and mission critical SISS, specifically CCTV and video management, who can identify issues and recommend solutions/best practices and solve complex problems to identify solutions then this could be the next step in your career.
Key Requirements:
Demonstrable experience of designing complex CCTV/Video Management systems ideally in a rail environment. Ability to solve complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions Customer focussed and able to deal with internal and external stakeholders Fully proficient in AutoCAD/MicroStation and other CAD specified software Fully competent knowledge of the quality standards and processes and regulatory requirements Have experience of leading or managing technical teams Full UK Driving Licence.
