Principal Tailings Engineer: London

Salary: GBP75,000 - GBP90,000 + Benefits

A leading global engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Tailings Engineer to join its growing mining team in London. Working across major international mining projects, the Principal Tailings Engineer will provide technical leadership on tailings storage facilities (TSFs), supporting clients through the full asset lifecycle while driving industry best practice.

  • Lead the design, review and assessment of tailings storage facilities and mine waste infrastructure.
  • Provide technical oversight on dam safety inspections, risk assessments and independent reviews.
  • Deliver feasibility, detailed design, operational support, closure and expansion studies.
  • Ensure projects align with GISTM, ANCOLD, CDA and other international standards.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to mining clients and support business development.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical direction across multidisciplinary project teams.

Requirements: Principal Tailings Engineer

  • Degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Extensive consultancy experience delivering TSF and tailings engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of geotechnical analysis, seepage, stability and dam safety.
  • Chartered Engineer (or working towards an equivalent senior professional accreditation).
  • Full right to work in the UK and based in, or willing to relocate to, London.
