Reports to: Executive Partner – Technology Business, Office of the Chief Technology Officer (OCTO)
About the Role
In this role, you will lead technology transformation and growth within a Pearson business unit, serving in the Office of the CTO. You will collaborate with business leaders to provide technology leadership and strategic partnership.
Pearson, the world’s leading learning company, is hiring a Team Technology Business Partner to serve as the strategic tech leader for one of its Business Divisions within the Office of the CTO.
As artificial intelligence and technology advancements reshape industries, this role is pivotal in delivering technical leadership, offering strategic guidance, and driving business growth through collaboration with internal and external teams.
You will partner closely with business stakeholders, understand strategic objectives, assess technology needs, and provide guidance on solution alignment with business growth and efficiency. Acting as a trusted advisor, you’ll ensure OCTO initiatives are directed toward value creation, innovation, and transformative outcomes.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Alignment: Partner with business leaders to identify objectives, challenges, and technology needs. Translate business goals into aligned technology strategies and roadmaps.
- Engineering Leadership & Delivery: Oversee complex technology projects with governance, operational discipline, and modern engineering practices to deliver measurable business outcomes.
- Technology Advisory & Oversight: Provide expert guidance on cloud architecture, AI/ML, cybersecurity, software engineering, data, and vendor partnerships.
- Delivery Transformation: Champion Agile, DevOps, platform engineering, automation, and AI-driven innovation to improve speed, resilience, and quality.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Bridge gaps between OCTO and business units, translating technology constraints, priorities, and benefits for clear communication.
- Outcome-Driven Prioritisation: Collaborate to prioritise initiatives based on strategic value, business impact, learner outcomes, and efficiency.
- Innovation & Improvement: Foster a culture of technological innovation, operational rigor, and continuous enhancement.
- Leadership Engagement: Serve on the Technology Business Partner leadership team, providing thought leadership on tech, product, and talent strategies.

Key Requirements
- Proven ability to shape and execute technology strategies aligned with business objectives.
- Extensive experience leading large-scale engineering teams and digital projects, accountable for translating strategy into execution.
- Strong hands-on technical expertise in:
- Modern software engineering, cloud computing, and enterprise architecture.
- AI/ML, data platforms, system integration, and cybersecurity.
- DevOps, platform engineering, and Agile practices.
- Track record of improving delivery speed, quality, and business outcomes through transformation.
- Credibility at C-suite and executive levels, with ability to influence engineering, architecture, and product teams.
- Empathetic leadership and collaboration skills, with experience building high-performing, inclusive teams.
- Leverage AI and automation to drive efficient technology modernization for each business unit.
