About The Business Unit We help conceive, drive, and implement transport solutions for cities, regions, and asset owners/operators around the globe. From preparing the business case and advising on related issues - such as revenue, procurement, and environmental legislation - to delivering the completed infrastructure and helping maintain it. Our planning, engineering, environmental and management skills cover the whole project cycle. We play a major role in developing and delivering the Global Transport Sector Strategy.
Overview Of The Role We are looking for an experienced, industry respected Telecoms Engineer of high technical calibre who can work both independently and within the wider delivery team. The individual must have a good working knowledge and experience of Operational Telecoms and SCADA with SISS desirable with over 12 years working experience. This Role will be a minimum of 3 days per week in your local office.
You will be responsible for the provision of professional telecom engineering leadership throughout the complete project lifecycle, with particular emphasis on ES3 to ES5 design.
Responsibilities will include carrying out the role of CRE, to provide telecoms engineering input into our project portfolio, consisting of all design stages and engineering consultancy services. Responsible for contributing to the delivery of telecoms design packages and provide specialist technical support and assistance to rail infrastructure projects, both in the UK and Internationally.
Accountable for the effective delivery of tasks assigned, in particular: Act as CRE on Network Rail projects Lead design teams and delivery across SCADA, PLC, BMS, DCS and telecoms systems (CCTV, GSM-R, FTN, PAVA, VOIP, RF) Carry out CAT2 checks and ensure compliance with standards Manage design documentation, RFIs, TQs, and approvals Coordinate with BIM/CAD teams for design integration Support HAZID / HAZOP / HAZCON processes Attend FAT/SAT and commissioning activities Interface with delivery, commercial, and planning teams Reviewing designs against current codes of practice and standards, analysing and designing solutions Working alongside other internal/external technical disciplines to provide advice best suited to the project and the Client Ensuring that our work is delivered to programme and budget Ensuring that our work is delivered to the necessary level of quality Undertaking formal peer reviews of project work Liaising with project stakeholders and providing technical advice Developing relationships with key clients and supporting business development Assisting with resource planning

Candidate specification Essential: Be a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent Telecoms CRE and evidence of Network Rail approved status for SCADA, Operational Telecoms are essential, SISS preferable Experience with working with Telecoms engineering codes of practice in the UK Ability to communicate effectively with clients, colleagues and other members of the project team Must have excellent report writing skills and interpersonal/presentation skills Must have extensive working knowledge of the UK Rail Industry Proven experience as a Network Rail CRE (Comms/Controls) Strong knowledge of NR standards (incl. NR/L2/RSE/02009) Background in senior/principal C&C or electrical engineering roles Experience in design assurance and multidisciplinary delivery HND (or equivalent) in Engineering CEng + IET/CIBSE membership preferrable
