Principal Transport Planner
Location: Central London
Salary: £55,000+ (DOE)
Type: Full-time, Hybrid Working (2:3 or 3:2)
About the Role
A specialist transport planning and development planning consultancy is seeking a Principal Transport Planner to take on a leadership-focused role in their London office. This is a key appointment for someone with strong experience in:
- Transport planning
- Development planning
- Transport Assessments
- Transport Statements
- Travel Plans
- Advanced junction modelling (ARCADY/PICADY/Junctions 9/10/11)
This consultancy supports developers across the UK on:
- Large strategic residential sites
- Urban regeneration
- Mixed-use schemes
- Major planning applications

Responsibilities
As a Principal Transport Planner, the role involves:
- Leading projects in:
- Development planning
- Transport planning (taking technical ownership)
- Overseeing delivery of:
- Transport Assessments
- Transport Statements
- Travel Plans
- Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) chapters
- Supporting analysis
- Leading junction capacity modelling using ARCADY/PICADY/Junctions 9/10/11
- Mentoring and upskilling junior and mid-level planners
- Building and maintaining client relationships, providing expert consultancy advice
- Contributing to:
- Work-winning
- Fee proposals
- Commercial management
- Supporting the growth and direction of the transport planning team

Requirements
We are looking for:
- An established background in transport planning, ideally within a consultancy
- Strong technical expertise in development planning deliverables
- Advanced experience in junction modelling (ARCADY/PICADY)
- A confident communicator, capable of:
- Leading client discussions
- Envisioning project outputs
- Ability to support team development and take a leadership role
