Summary
The Principal Value Consultant is a strategic role focused on defining and scaling value frameworks across the organization. You are responsible for enabling the field through structured business case methodologies and ROI modeling. As a Principal, you will act as a thought leader in value engineering, pushing innovation by refining value-based processes and providing essential support to improve the quality, capacity, and efficiency of our Global Accounts.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Global Account Opportunities: For each customer opportunity, review available financial reports and market strategies to identify key areas for initial assessment (e.g. Operating Ratio in comparison with their competitors and / or market; market share changes over the previous 3/5 years).
- Customer Interaction: Meet with the customer to provide an initial Point Of View on where opportunities and threats exist, and how Guidewire solutions can help achieve business value for the customer.
- Value Strategy & Business Case Development: Advise on critical value drivers and define the structure for complex, bottom-up business cases. Develop sophisticated ROI models that align product capabilities with specific customer business outcomes and strategic imperatives.
- Strategic Advisory: Establish yourself as a trusted advisor to executive-level stakeholders. Enable others to articulate the strategic business impact of a partnership with Guidewire, guiding long-term value strategy and mentoring teams on value best practices.
- Value Framework Expertise: Demonstrate mastery in developing value methodologies and connecting the entire Guidewire product suite to tangible business results. Maintain deep knowledge of insurance market trends to ensure value models remain relevant and defensible.
- Organizational Leadership: Act as a global resource for scaling value methodologies. Mentor Value Consultants, enhance team competency in financial modeling, and lead cross-functional projects that institutionalize value best practices across the broader organization.
- Value Differentiation: Effectively articulate the unique strategic value of Guidewire solutions. Proactively differentiate Guidewire by highlighting value-based outcomes and business benefits that transcend basic product comparisons.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Proven Track Record: Consistently demonstrated leadership over several years with proactive participation beyond a Senior Value Consultant role.
- Business Case Success: Demonstrated success in developing complex, bottom-up business cases and ROI models that have successfully influenced high-value strategic outcomes.
- Expertise: Recognized insurance industry expert with a deep understanding of market trends and the competitive landscape.
- Collaborative Mindset: Demonstrated ability to collaborate well, persuade others, and use rationality to solve complex issues across global teams.
- Engagement: Highly engaged with the Guidewire customer base, with a proven ability to capture and leverage compelling customer stories.
