Principle Specialist FP&A (Interim)
Senior Finance Analyst – EMEA Connected Aviation Solutions Team (Fixed-Term, 12 Months)
Position Overview
- Type: Hybrid (3+ days per week in office during initial training period then subject to business requirements)
- Location: Crawley, West Sussex, United Kingdom
- Contract Type: 12-month fixed-term
- Team: EMEA Airports business under Connected Aviation Solutions
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Analyst to partner with the Airports business, adding value and providing governance. This role requires driving financial insight, development of budgets, forecasts, and plans, and mitigating risks in a pressured environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Insight & Decision Support
- Proactively deliver financial and strategic insights to support business risk & opportunities, including:
- Variance analysis against Plan and latest estimates
- Opportunity identification, mitigation strategies, and reviews
- Governance support for long-term planning (AOP, 5-Year Plan), Quarterly EACs (Earned Value Analysis), and monthly forecasting
- Champion best practices, empowering the business through data-driven decision-making
Business & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with Program and Commercial teams to enhance collaboration
- Build and maintain strong networks with stakeholders across key areas
- Own and ensure integrity of product profitability tracking, conducting in-depth cost reviews
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and present monthly program profitability updates with variance analysis
- Generate SAP-based financial reports for EMEA Airports, including actuals, forecasts, and risk analysis
- Compile and communicate monthly results for stakeholders (management dashboards, trend analyses, and analysis of performance drivers)
- Engage in variance explanations, responses to ad-hoc reporting requests, and query resolution
- Balance regulatory compliance with operational agility

Planning & Forecasting
- Develop Accurate & actionable financial forecasts, Annual Operating Plans (AOP), and Strategic/Long-Range Plans (LRP)
- Maintain tight alignment between business operations and financial planning; standardise performance tracking methodologies
- Improve business planning processes, designing templates and controls to support financial forecasting
- Generate basis-of-estimate calculations, foreign exchange management, and risk assessments for Gate Reviews of new business
Internal Controls & Compliance
- Ensure full adherence to US GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley, and other applicable accounting guidelines
- Maintain compliance with internal financial control policies and statutory reporting deadlines
- Monitor risk provisions, with strategic escalation when necessary
Continuous Improvement
- Drive toward flawless program execution and best-in-class financial practices
- Actively propose systems and process optimisations
Required Qualifications & Skills
Mandatory
- Qualified accountant or a part-qualified accountant (CIMA, ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
- Proficiency in Excel (advanced formulas, pivot tables) and PowerPoint
- Microsoft SAP experience (essential)
- Project accounting experience
- Proven customer-focused mindset, leveraging financial strategies to enhance business value
- Operational/commercial acumen with experience of whole-life business cases
- Demonstratable attention to detail in high-stakes work environments
- Adaptability – ability to respond to changing priorities and scope.
- Proven collaboration skills with Program and Commercial teams

Preferred
- Experience in a complex contracting environment or similar commercial aviation secondaries industry
- UK/US GAAP, experience with Sarbanes-Oxley, or similar regulatory precedents.
- Analytical thinking – applying root cause analysis to refine processes
- Strong communication skills – clarity in conveying complex financial decision-making impacts to non-financial stakeholders
- Proactive, highly driven, with determination to succeed in mission-critical roles
