Join our Print and Mail Team

We're looking for an experienced Print Buyer to join our busy Print and Mail Service, helping to deliver high-quality, cost-effective print solutions for a wide range of customers.

As a key member of the team, you'll manage print procurement, provide expert advice, and build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Working in a fast-paced environment, you'll help ensure every project is delivered on time, within budget and to the highest standards.

Our service supports a diverse customer base, including Manchester City Council services, partner organisations, NHS trusts, museums, galleries and other local authorities, giving you the opportunity to work on a wide variety of interesting and high-profile projects.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a trusted adviser on print and mail solutions, helping customers identify the most effective and cost-efficient options to meet their objectives.
  • Work closely with colleagues, suppliers and customers to manage print jobs from initial brief through to delivery, ensuring quality, value and excellent customer service throughout.
  • Support supplier performance, monitor costs and budgets, and use management information systems to track activity and provide reporting that helps drive service performance.

What You'll Bring

  • Experience of print estimating, print buying or print production management.
  • A strong understanding of print processes, production methods and materials.
  • Experience using a Print MIS system, such as Tharstern Primo or a similar industry platform.
  • Strong numerical skills, with the ability to calculate costs, interpret specifications and manage budgets accurately.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to build relationships across customers, suppliers and colleagues.
  • Experience managing customer accounts, interpreting briefs and identifying the most effective print solutions.
  • The ability to negotiate, influence and challenge constructively when managing expectations, resolving issues or improving outcomes.
  • A methodical and organised approach, with the ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • A flexible and collaborative attitude, with a willingness to learn and support other areas of the service when required.
  • Most importantly, you'll be customer-focused, solutions-driven and passionate about delivering high-quality print and mail services that provide value for money and excellent results.
