Recovery Coordinator (Prison In-Reach Worker) – Coventry
Change Grow Live is a charity committed to making a real difference in the lives of the people we support. Our core values – Be open, be compassionate, and be bold – guide everything we do. We believe in treating everyone as an individual, providing support with respect and care, and working together to create meaningful change.
About the Role
We are looking for a Recovery Coordinator to join our team in Coventry, with a focus on:
- Identifying, engaging, and supporting service users with drug and/or alcohol needs
- Delivering targeted interventions and robust release planning to reduce substance misuse, re-offending, and associated harm
- Working closely with prisons, probation services, and community-based providers to ensure seamless transitions and access to support on release
A new opportunity has arisen for a prison in-reach worker on a fixed-term basis, engaging service users caught in cycles of re-offending. This role involves weekly travel to HMP Hewell, so access to a car and valid clean driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a key liaison between prison in-reach teams and community drug/alcohol services to ensure continuity of care, shared case management, and coordinated risk reduction planning.
- Conduct prison-based screenings, initial assessments, and risk assessments, developing recovery plans with service users before release.
- Deliver harm reduction education, overdose prevention, and relapse management planning with service users in custody and post-release.
- Promote and provide Naloxone training to service users and peers where appropriate, pre- and post-release.
- Offer "through-the-gate" support, including gate pickups, and facilitate access to rehabilitation services, housing, and health appointments.
- Conduct home visits, hostel visits, and community outreach to maintain engagement, particularly with high-risk individuals.
- Collaborate with police, probation, mental health, housing, and social care teams to address complex service user needs and promote recovery.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
