Job Title & Salary

Prison Officer Salary: £35,746 - £40,003

About the Role

His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service has an extraordinary job opportunity—shaped by someone like you. Prison officers play a crucial role in protecting the public and making a positive impact on people’s lives.

Every day brings new challenges and responsibilities, offering endless variety and room to grow. This is not just a job—it’s the start of a successful career in an environment where no two days, or situations, are ever the same.

Who We’re Looking For

There’s no typical prison officer. Our team comprises people from diverse backgrounds—parents, educators, ex-retail staff, or those with experience in the armed forces—each bringing unique strengths:

  • Empathy and emotional maturity to engage respectfully with offenders
  • Strong self-confidence and independence to make decisions under pressure
  • Exceptional communication skills to build trust and foster positive relationships

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
