Prison officers protect the public and help to make a positive impact on people’s lives. If you have the integrity, skills, and strength of character we’re looking for, this fast-paced role could be the start of a successful career. No two days or situations are ever the same. With experience, you’ll find a range of opportunities to grow and develop.

Someone like you

There’s no such thing as a typical prison officer. Our people come from different backgrounds—just like the offenders they support. Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or have worked in retail or the armed forces, you’ll have developed the empathy, self-confidence, and strong communication skills we take pride in.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Whether facing a challenge, you’ll prioritise building constructive, positive, and professional relationships with offenders who may be at their lowest point in life.

Teamwork is vital here. You must be fully committed to supporting colleagues, embodying resilience, and working as one team to ensure the safety of both the prison population and everyone who works here.

Note: You will be required to work various shifts, including weekends.

An extraordinary job
