As an Operational Support Grade, your role involves contributing to the day-to-day running of a bustling prison. Your duties span:
- Security & Gate Operations: Conducting searches and managing entrance-exit procedures
- Logistics & Supplies: Coordinating deliveries and managing stock
- Visitor Supervision: Overseeing visits and ensuring smooth operations
- Communication & Monitoring: Managing phone calls and CCTV surveillance
Your responsibilities blend physical and desk-based tasks, including:
- Escorting individuals across prison grounds via vehicles
- Performing physical activities (e.g., lifting, carrying, walking to transfer guests)
Travel Considerations
This role may require travel to rural-prison locations with limited public transport options.
- A valid UK driving licence with the D1 vehicle category is strongly preferred (legal under the Road Traffic Act). This allows you to drive vehicles featuring:
- Up to 16 passenger seats
- A maximum length of 8 metres
- A trailer up to 750kg

Work Patterns
As an OSG, expect:
- Shift-based work including some weekend and night shifts
- Varied timetables to ensure smooth prison operations around the clock.
