As an Operational Support Grade, your role involves contributing to the day-to-day running of a bustling prison. Your duties span:

  • Security & Gate Operations: Conducting searches and managing entrance-exit procedures
  • Logistics & Supplies: Coordinating deliveries and managing stock
  • Visitor Supervision: Overseeing visits and ensuring smooth operations
  • Communication & Monitoring: Managing phone calls and CCTV surveillance

Your responsibilities blend physical and desk-based tasks, including:

  • Escorting individuals across prison grounds via vehicles
  • Performing physical activities (e.g., lifting, carrying, walking to transfer guests)

Travel Considerations

This role may require travel to rural-prison locations with limited public transport options.

  • A valid UK driving licence with the D1 vehicle category is strongly preferred (legal under the Road Traffic Act). This allows you to drive vehicles featuring:
    • Up to 16 passenger seats
    • A maximum length of 8 metres
    • A trailer up to 750kg
