Prison Support - HMP Erlestoke

Prison Support Role

Location: HMP Erlestoke Salary: £30,491

About the Role

As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison within His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service. Your role will include:

  • Security and search operations at the gate
  • Managing deliveries
  • Supervising visitors
  • Monitoring phone calls and CCTV
  • Escorting vehicles across the prison grounds
  • Balancing desk duties with more physical tasks, such as lifting, carrying and walking

This varied and active role offers a foundation for a potentially successful career, provided you are a good communicator and capable of staying calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining a safe and operational prison environment
  • Support security functions and access control
  • Work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Occasionally interact with prisoners, depending on prison requirements
  • Gain experience supporting other operational roles within the prison

Work Schedule
