About the Role
An opportunity to support the day-to-day operations of a busy prison – this job might surprise you! As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you’ll be part of a dedicated team with a dynamic mix of responsibilities:
- Conducting security checks and searches at the entrance
- Overseeing deliveries and managing restricted goods
- Supervising prisoner visitors
- Monitoring sensitive communications like CCTV and phone calls
The role blends analytical desk-based work with physical tasks including lifting, carrying heavy loads, and escorting vehicles across the grounds. It’s physically active and challenging, ideal for those seeking variety and a genuine sense of purpose.

Core Compensation
- Competitive pay starting at £30,491
- Base pay relies on civil service farm, scale +1 at step 1 (£30,491)
