Prison Support - HMP Erlestoke

Prison Support Role – Operational Support Grade (OSG)

HMP Erlestoke | £30,491 (pro-rata)


About the Role

An exciting position within His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service—an opportunity to play a crucial part in the daily operations of a busy prison.

As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you will work collaboratively as part of a fast-paced, supportive team across diverse tasks:

  • Security and gate checks
  • Managing prisoner deliveries
  • Supervising visitors
  • Monitoring phone calls and CCTV surveillance
  • Various physical duties including lifting, escorting prisoners (via vehicles), and active groundwork.

This role blends desk-based work with dynamic, hands-on responsibilities, prioritising resourcefulness, adaptability, and sound judgement.

  • Work Environment:

    • Shifts: Fixed, rotating, or unsocial hours (weekend and night shifts common)
    • Limited prisoner contact compared to Officers, though interaction may occur based on the unit.
