Prison Support Role (Operational Support Grade – OSG)

As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison. Your role involves a wide range of responsibilities, including:
- Security and searches at the gate
- Managing deliveries
- Supervising visitors
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV
- Physical tasks such as lifting, carrying, and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds
It’s a varied and active role combining desk duties with physically demanding tasks.

As an OSG, you’ll work a mix of shifts, including weekends and nights, to ensure the smooth operation of the prison.

Note on prisoner interaction: Your direct contact with prisoners is limited, although occasional interaction may be necessary depending on the prison.
