Prison Support - HMP Erlestoke
Prison Support Role
Location: HMP Erlestoke
Salary: £30,491 Field: His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service

As an Operational Support Grade, you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Security and searches at the gate
- Managing deliveries
- Supervising visitors
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV
- Visiting escorts on prison grounds (signed off as OSG-specific physical tasks)
This role combines desk-based tasks with active physical tasks, including:
- Lifting
- Carrying
- Walking to escort vehicles
About the Role
You don’t need specific qualifications for this position but you’ll need:
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Fast-paced work environment readiness

A typical day includes working across a variety of shifts, including weekends and night shifts. This flexibility ensures the smooth and safe functioning of the prison infrastructure.
