Prison Support Role
Position: Operational Support Grade
Location: HMP Erlestoke
Salary: £30,491 per annum
Employer: His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service

As an Operational Support Grade, you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day operations of a busy prison.
Role responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Assisting with security and searches at the gate
- Managing deliveries and inbound consignments
- Supervising visitors' intake
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV
- Conducting escort duties across the prison grounds
- Balancing desk-based tasks with physical activities such as lifting, carrying, and walking
This role involves a varied and active work schedule, combining administrative and operational tasks.

- No formal qualifications required, but a strong communicative ability is essential
- Ability to stay calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Good judgement, common sense and team-player attitude are critical
- Resilience to work various shifts, including weekends and nights

- Base pay: £30,491
- Foundational annual leave: 25 days, increasing to 30 days after 10 years of service (calculated prorata)
