Prison Support (Operational Support Grade) Role
About the Role
HMP Grendon/Springhill
Salary: £29,432

As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison. Your responsibilities include:
- Security and searches at the gate
- Managing deliveries
- Supervising visitors
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV
This varied and active role involves a mix of:
- Desk-based tasks
- Physical duties: lifting, carrying and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds
About You
Minimal experience is required for this role, but key qualities include:
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to stay calm under pressure
- Good judgement and common sense
- Strong ability to work as part of a team
- Friendly and professional demeanour

Additional Requirements
- Ability to work diverse shifts, including weekends and nights
- A valid full UK driving licence is mandatory

Base pay: £29,432
Additional benefits:
- Leave: 25 days on appointment (increasing to 30 days after 10 years’ service), calculated pro-rata.
