Prison Support - HMP Grendon and Spring Hill

Prison Support (Operational Support Grade) Role

About the Role

HMP Grendon/Springhill

Salary: £29,432

Employer: His Majesty’s Prison and Probation Service

As an Operational Support Grade (OSG), you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison. Your responsibilities include:

  • Security and searches at the gate
  • Managing deliveries
  • Supervising visitors
  • Monitoring phone calls and CCTV

This varied and active role involves a mix of:

  • Desk-based tasks
  • Physical duties: lifting, carrying and escorting vehicles across the prison grounds

About You

Minimal experience is required for this role, but key qualities include:

  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to stay calm under pressure
  • Good judgement and common sense
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team
  • Friendly and professional demeanour

What You’ll Get

Base pay: £29,432

Additional benefits:

  • Leave: 25 days on appointment (increasing to 30 days after 10 years’ service), calculated pro-rata.
