As an Operational Support Grade, you will play a key part in supporting the day-to-day running of a busy prison. Your responsibilities will include a mix of tasks:
- Security and searches at the gate
- Managing deliveries
- Supervising visitors
- Monitoring phone calls and CCTV operations
- Assistance with escort duties (including lifting, carrying, and walking to escort vehicles within the prison grounds)
This is a varied and active role combining desk-based duties with more physical tasks.

Working Conditions
As an Operational Support Grade, you will work across a diversity of shifts, including:
- Weekend shifts
- Night shifts
Additionally, driving duties are an essential part of the role at HMP Grendon and HMP Springhill. Therefore, you must hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
