Location: London | Working Model: Hybrid (3 days office-based) Contract: Permanent | Hours: Full-Time Compensation: £80k-£90k + 10% bonus
Our client is a globally recognised leader in digital marketing and communications, operating across over 100 countries, empowering some of the world’s most recognised brands. Due to sustained expansion and rising demand for privacy expertise, they are seeking a talented Data Privacy Lawyer to join their established legal and compliance function in London.
This role offers an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded privacy professional to collaborate with a top-tier team and contribute significantly to advising stakeholders across a forward-thinking, diverse business. You’ll bridge privacy, technology, data, and advertising—and drive the organisation’s strategic goals at their junction.
The Role
As Privacy Counsel, you will serve as a trusted advisor across the business, delivering both strategic and operational insights on privacy and data protection matters. Integrating closely with legal, commercial, technology, and operational teams globally, you’ll shape and strengthen the organisation’s privacy framework.

Key Responsibilities:
- Be the primary point of contact for data privacy and data protection matters across multiple business divisions.
- Provide strategic guidance and practical support on privacy risks, compliance requirements, and regulatory obligations.
- Partner with commercial and employment legal teams to address privacy-related legal issues and serve as an internal subject matter expert.
- Draft, review, and negotiate privacy and data protection clauses in commercial agreements.
- Guide decisions on vendor relationships, data partnerships, and third-party risk assessments.
- Assist in developing, refining, and enhancing privacy governance frameworks, policies, and procedures.
- Collaborate with global teams to maintain and improve privacy compliance programmes and documentation.
- Deliver privacy training and awareness initiatives internally.
- Monitor and provide interpretations of legal and regulatory developments and their practical implications.

Experience
Required
- Qualification: UK or EU solicitor (or equivalent)
- Experience: At least 2.5+ years post-qualification experience (PQE)
- Legal Specialisation: Deep knowledge of UK and European data protection legislation and regulatory frameworks
- Industry Expertise: Background advising in commercial, technology, digital media, or AdTech environments (or similar data-driven sectors)
- Skills:
- Strong stakeholder management and communications abilities
- Robust commercial awareness with a solutions-focused approach
Desirable
- In-house legal experience preferred
- Direct experience in AdTech, digital advertising, technology, or media sectors
- Professional qualifications in privacy compliance (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPP/US or equivalent)
- Experience advising on data-driven products, analytics, measurement, programmatic advertising, or digital marketing technologies
