The Opportunity
The Role: We are seeking a Private Banking Manager to lead our branch in Luton. You will manage and develop a private banking customer portfolio, driving profitable business growth by proactively promoting the Bank’s products and services.
Key Focus Areas:
- Attract new customers via referrals, mortgage brokers, and partnerships with Corporate Banking Managers.
- Drive lending (mortgages), wealth, and deposit growth.
- Maintain holistic customer relationships, including credit application support and customer education on Bank services.

Key Responsibilities

Grow Customer Portfolio:
- Develop high-net-worth and professional clients through exceptional service, networking, and business development.
- Build deep local market expertise and partnerships with professional firms, brokers, and industry introducers.
- Identify and implement cross-sell opportunities (wealth management, savings, mortgages) to deliver personalised solutions.

Market Advocacy & Differentiation:
- Clearly communicate Handelsbanken’s values, culture, and unique positioning to local markets and customers.

Credit & Risk Management:
- Evaluate financial information, lending proposals, and structure transactions in line with the Bank’s Credit Policy.
- Ensure compliance with Risk Management frameworks and escalate concerns to the line manager.

Stakeholder Collaboration:
- Work closely with functional teams to ensure customers access full Handelsbanken services.
What We’re Looking For

- Business Development Expertise:
- Proven track record of originating new customer business.
- Portfolio Management Experience:
- 5+ years managing high-net-worth, business-owner, or professional client portfolios, ideally in a relationship-focused banking/brokerage environment.
- Local Market Awareness:
- Familiarity with Luton’s professional networks, brokerage, and referral channels.
- Relationship & Advocacy Skills:
- Ability to build, influence, and sustain meaningful professional relationships, reflecting Handelsbanken’s values at all times.
- Cross-Selling & Lending Acumen:
- Strong credit analysis experience and knowledge of lending processes.
- Collaboration & Risk Compliance:
- Collaborative mindset; expertise in stakeholder management and governance.
- Integrity & Adaptability:
- Demonstrates attention to detail, resilience, and discretion in a fast-changing environment.
