I am working with a friendly boutique law firm who are currently seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer to join its growing team. The firm is looking for someone who can hit the ground running and is not seeking a training role.

The Role

You will handle a varied private client caseload, including:

  • Wills and estate planning
  • Probate and estate administration
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Court of Protection matters
  • Elderly client work

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

The successful candidate must be comfortable drafting wills independently and have experience handling multiple probate matters from instruction through to completion.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year's experience managing your own private client files
  • Ability to draft wills without supervision
  • Proven experience dealing with probate and estate administration matters
  • Strong client care and communication skills
  • Able to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team environment

Working Arrangements

The firm is open to both full-time and part-time applicants and offers a degree of flexibility around working patterns. While the role is predominantly office-based due to the nature of the client base, which includes many elderly clients who prefer face-to-face appointments, there is flexibility for one day per week working from home where required. The preferred office location is Sunderland, although applications from candidates wishing to be based in Newcastle will also be considered. The team currently works across both offices.
