Private Client Solicitor

Private Client Solicitor – Stevenage

About the Role

An exciting opportunity to join Adviser Legal, a growing law firm specialising in Private Client matters, with a focus on probate, estate administration, wills drafting, and Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPA) applications.

As our Private Client Solicitor, you’ll play a crucial role in delivering high-quality legal services while supporting clients through some of their most significant life events.


Key Responsibilities

  • Client Onboarding & Compliance

    • Ensure new clients meet regulatory requirements
    • Maintain thorough documentation in compliance with legislation
  • Case & Data Management

    • Input and securely manage client records into the case management system
    • Track case progress and deadlines efficiently
  • Legal & Billing Tasks

    • Draft probate applications (Grants of Probate)
    • Prepare watertight legal statements and documentation
    • Complete inheritance tax (IHT) returns where necessary
    • Liaise with HMRC and the Probate Registry for submissions and follow-ups
  • Client & Stakeholder Communication

    • Provide expert guidance on probate administration, wills, and LPAs
    • Update clients proactively on case developments and next steps
    • Resolve queries professionally and compassionately

  • Financial & Administrative Duties

    • Review and finalise accurate time records and billing statements
    • Ensure all files are billed timely and correctly
  • Professional Development & Compliance

    • Maintain current knowledge of Private Client law, including updates to UK legislation
    • Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver seamless client service

Person Specification

Essential

  • Strong foundation knowledge in wills and probate (candidate experience preferred but not mandatory)
  • Understanding of the probate process from start to finish
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Exceptional client care and communication skills
  • Excellent time management and prioritisation for high-volume workloads
  • Belief in attention to detail—accuracy is critical in probate work
  • Free-thinking and client-focused approach

Desirable

  • Experience with a case management system (e.g., GPSole, Modern Families, or similar)
  • Familiarity with integrating IHT resources within client portfolios
  • Ability to build positive rapport with vulnerable clients
  • Collaborative mindset to support teamwork effectively
