Private Client Solicitor (Senior Associate / Partner)
Pay: £65,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience
About the Firm
A well-established and highly regarded regional law firm with a strong presence across the East Midlands is seeking an experienced and ambitious Private Client Solicitor or Legal Executive to join its Newark office at Senior Associate or Partner level.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take a leading role within a growing and successful Private Client department, working with a broad and varied client base.
The Role
The successful candidate will manage a broad range of private client matters while also contributing to the continued growth and strategic development of the department.
This role would suit a confident, proactive, and commercially minded individual who enjoys building strong client relationships, mentoring colleagues, and helping to develop a successful team.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a varied caseload of private client matters including:
- Wills and estate planning
- Trusts and complex family arrangements
- Probate and estate administration
- Inheritance Tax and Capital Gains Tax planning
- Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs) and EPAs
- Court of Protection matters
- Providing high-quality legal advice and client care
- Handling both taxable and non-taxable estates
- Supporting business development activities and networking opportunities
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients and referrers
- Contributing to departmental strategy and growth initiatives
- Supervising and mentoring junior team members
- Ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk management procedures
- Managing billing, financial performance, and fee targets
- Keeping up to date with legal and technical developments

Essential Requirements
- Qualified Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive
- Strong experience across mainstream private client work including:
- Wills
- Probate and estate administration
- Trusts
- Tax planning
- Powers of Attorney and mental capacity matters
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Commercial awareness and a proactive approach
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality
- Competent in Microsoft Office applications

Desirable Requirements
- STEP qualification or willingness to work towards qualification
- Experience advising agricultural clients and/or high-net-worth individuals
- Experience using case management systems
- Full UK driving licence and access to transport
