Private Client Tax Associate Director

Associate Director – Private Client Tax (Newcastle)

About the Role

As one of the world’s largest networks of audit, tax, and consulting firms, RSM delivers big ideas and premium service to help middle-market businesses thrive. At RSM UK, we’re a fast-growing firm with bold ambitions to become the premium adviser to the middle market globally. If you’re looking to build a future and make an impact, then this is the place for you.

Our Private Client Team supports individuals, trustees, partnerships, sole traders, and family businesses in managing their tax affairs—rather on compliance or advisory matters. We work closely with colleagues across the firm to deliver a joined-up service for owner-managed businesses and family offices, combining expertise in accounting, audit, and all relevant taxes.

As an Associate Director within the Private Client Tax team in Newcastle, you’ll take a strategic and commercial approach to managing client relationships, leading advisory projects, and developing the team. Your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring high-quality service delivery to a diverse range of clients
  • Team leadership, including reviewing work, training and development, workforce planning, and fostering a positive and inclusive culture aligned with RSM’s values
  • Collaborating with partners and colleagues on planning and technical projects
  • Play[ing] a key role in business development

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
