We’re looking for a talented Private Client Tax Senior Manager who thrives in a dynamic environment and embraces the chance to tackle complex challenges. Your work in Private Client Tax will go beyond the numbers – it’s about building meaningful client relationships, understanding their businesses, navigating risks, and delivering insights that drive real results.

As a Private Client Tax Senior Manager, you will deal with high-net-worth individuals and their families and trusts. You will lead a variety of projects, including international and cross-border tax issues, leveraging MHA’s position as the UK independent member firm of Baker Tilly International. The role will involve dispute resolution and advisory. There will be a degree of flexibility to tailor the role to the individual, with opportunities including:

  • OMB restructuring projects such as mergers, demergers, acquisitions, tax due diligence, profit extraction and succession planning
  • International matters including residency, the FIG regime, the TRF, and offshore trust structures
  • Inheritance tax planning

Most importantly, we are looking for ambitious and forward-thinking individuals who are keen to develop their skills, build great relationships with existing and future clients, and leverage the experience on offer in this role to develop their technical and soft skills to progress in their career. There is a clear progression pathway for this role.

The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Owning and leading a complex portfolio of high- and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families, trusts, estates, and offshore and cross-border structures.
  • Acting as a trusted adviser, delivering high-level technical advice on succession and inheritance tax planning, residence and domicile, structuring, and international private client matters.
  • Leading complex advisory and planning projects, working closely with directors and partners to shape solutions and manage delivery.
  • Providing technical oversight and review of personal and trust tax compliance, ensuring quality, consistency, and risk management across the portfolio.
  • Leading on significant HMRC matters, including complex enquiries, investigations, disclosures, and negotiations.
  • Proactively identifying advisory opportunities and driving additional value for clients, contributing directly to revenue growth.
  • Playing a key role in business development through originating work, supporting proposals and pitches, and strengthening long-term client relationships.
  • Providing senior leadership within the team, mentoring and developing junior staff, and sharing advanced technical knowledge and best practice.

What We Are Looking For

A Private Client Tax professional who is either looking to make a step into a Senior Manager role or an experienced Senior Manager-level individual who will join our tax department to grow and service the tax offering to clients, whilst looking to develop and progress further in their career.

  • CTA/ACA/ACCA qualified or equivalent.
  • IT literate (Excel, Word, tax software)
  • Effective communication skills – verbal and written
  • Ability to supervise juniors in the team
  • Organisational skills and the ability to plan and prioritise work accordingly.
  • Client focus & commercial awareness
  • Problem solving and decision making
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Be positive and committed to MHA in dealings with both clients and staff
