About This Role
Role description:
The European Middle Market Private Debt team provide mid-market companies with senior and unitranche financing for acquisitions, capital growth, LBO’s and liquidity situations. The portfolio currently gathers 110+ of live financing to mid market companies across Europe. The role will be responsible for supporting the Portfolio Monitoring team, as part of European Mid-Market Private Debt investment team, in all aspects of the portfolio monitoring activities and will partner closely with the rest of the investment team, investor relations, funds’ cash management, risk, legal and compliance and COO teams.
Portfolio Situations
- Support the deal team in the drafting of upsizes and amendment requests for specific portfolio situations with recommendations to Investment Committee, including preparation of cash flows modelling
- Maintain effective monthly and quarterly financials management, monitor metrics of portfolio companies and report to the team for companies under coverage
- Assist other team members in performing financial due diligence procedures as well as other initiatives related to the portfolio companies
Portfolio Monitoring
- Prepare and contribute to monthly/ quarterly portfolio reviews for all portfolio companies to the attention of Investment Committee and Risk team
- Monitor timing of receipt of information / compliance certificates and other borrower’s obligations for all portfolio companies
- Ownership and maintain of the database on the fund’s investments (consistency and integrity) and coordinate the use of data for various internal and external reporting requirements
- Monitor portfolio / funds statistics on portfolio companies and report to the team on the same and contribute to investor reporting metrics
- Contribution to weekly pipeline updates and team capacity tracker in relation to portfolio activity
Other Functions
- Provide asset information for the external quarterly valuation exercise and external credit rating processes, in liaison with the valuation team, risk team and external rating providers
- Liaise with industry market reports producers to disclose (in accordance with the deal team) BLK European private credit track record and league tables
- Contribute to the management and reporting of leverage facilities and continuation vehicles

Skills, Experience And Education
- 2-3 years of investment / modelling experience (leveraged finance, M&A or restructuring or private debt / direct lending)
- Excellent analytical and data analysis skills, highly numerate, responsive with high attention to detail
- Motivated team player and flexible in approach with ability to work independently
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills – presents ideas in a clear, concise and constructive manner
- Ability to prioritise, working to tight deadlines and flexible to meet workload
- Keen to question, challenge and improve
- A methodical thinker able to resolve complex issues on a daily basis
- Fluent in English; other European languages skills considered a plus
