About The Role
This role sits within PwC UK’s Private Equity Independence team, supporting partners and engagement teams in applying audit independence requirements across complex Private Equity structures. You’ll work with large, global PE groups, helping to analyse fund, portfolio and holding-company hierarchies to ensure the correct independence restrictions are identified and applied.
A core part of the role is maintaining high-quality data within PwC’s Client Entity System (CES), a critical firm-wide system underpinning independence compliance globally. By ensuring CES accurately reflects client structures, you’ll play a key role in enabling the firm to serve its clients confidently while meeting regulatory independence obligations.
What Your Days Will Look Like
- Ensure client entities are correctly structured and classified in CES and evaluating the restriction status of entities within the hierarchy
- Assess and monitor independence risks across private equity groups, including ongoing changes due to investments, divestments, and restructuring. Evaluate the impact of these changes on the firm’s ability to provide audit and non-audit services
- Initiating independence assessments to maintain the firm’s independence of its clients in the context of constantly changing hierarchies
- Maintaining organisational structures and hierarchy, designing, updating, and managing trackers for accurate monitoring of timelines, tasks, and independence issues
- Collaborate with internal teams to resolve hierarchy-related queries and support onboarding of new entities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
