Private Equity Tax Associate Director
Associate Director – Private Equity Tax
Location: Birmingham
Overview
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading professional services firm, recognised as one of the most prominent advisory businesses outside of the Big 4. The firm has built a strong reputation in the mid-market, combining deep technical expertise with a highly commercial, partner-led approach to client service.
With a growing private equity client base and a clear strategic focus on transactions and funds, the team is expanding and looking to appoint an experienced Associate Director to play a key role in its continued growth.
The firm is known for its collaborative and entrepreneurial culture, offering individuals the opportunity to take genuine ownership of client relationships, develop business, and progress more quickly than in more hierarchical environments.
The Role
As an Associate Director within the Private Equity Tax team, you will:
- Work closely with Partners and Directors on a broad range of advisory-led projects for private equity houses, portfolio companies, and management teams.
- Play a central role in delivering high-quality tax advice across the deal lifecycle while contributing to business development and mentoring junior members of the team.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
