Private Markets Tech & Data Platform Lead - 6 month FTC

Role: Technology & Data Platform Lead (Private Markets) Contract: 6-month secondment or fixed-term

Reports to: Head of Operational Strategy, Private Markets

Role Purpose

Act as the single business owner for technology and data across Private Markets.

Key Accountability:

  • Ensure technology and data capabilities support investment teams in:
    • Working efficiently.
    • Scaling safely.
    • Making better decisions.
  • Own what is required, why it matters, and how it is prioritised, collaborating with delivery, architecture, and vendors to achieve desired outcomes.

Core Responsibilities

End-to-End Ownership

  • Oversee the business use, governance, and evolution of all technology and data platforms within Private Markets.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for:
    • Alignment of technology and data with investment, operational, and regulatory outcomes.
    • Integration of platforms and data as an unified enablement layer aligned with business strategy and growth.
  • Act as the proxy Data Sponsor for the COO of Private Markets.

Immediate Focus: 90-Day Assessment

  • Conduct an initial review of the current technology and data landscape within 90 days to:
    • Identify quick wins.
    • Pinpoint critical gaps.
    • Develop a prioritised roadmap to demonstrate early value.

Supporting Responsibilities

1. Prioritisation, Governance & Decision Support

  • Translate investment and operational needs into clear, prioritised technology-and-data requirements.
  • Provide trade-off analysis considering:
    • Value.
    • Cost.
    • Risk.
    • Delivery pace.
  • Represent Private Markets interests in:
    • Working groups.
    • Change forums.
    • Delivery stages.
    • Ensure all decisions remain business-led.
  • Chair the upcoming Private Markets Forum (Q3 2026).
  • Identify opportunities to:
    • Simplify processes.
    • Standardise practices.
    • Remove duplication in platforms and data flows.

2. Platform & Vendor Management

  • Act as the business owner and super-user for core Private Markets platforms (examples: Dealcloud, Verity, ILevel).
  • Centralise ownership of:
    • Vendor relationships.
    • Contracts.
    • Licensing.
    • Renewals.
    • Associated costs.
  • Undertake Third Party Supplier Assessments as needed.
  • Influence vendor roadmaps to improve:
    • Data quality.
    • Integration.
    • Usability.
  • Oversee transition of platform activities in-house where suitable.

3. Embedded Data Governance & Capability

  • Define clear ownership, quality, and standards for data across platforms.
  • Ensure these standards are pragmatically embedded in daily platform use.
  • Establish and support:
    • Data owners.
    • Data stewards.
  • Represent Private Markets in firm-wide data governance forums as the business authority.
  • Foster a data-driven culture by:
    • Improving adoption.
    • Enhancing data literacy.
    • Promoting effective use of insights.

4. Innovation, AI & Continuous Improvement

  • Champion digital and AI-enabled change within Private Markets.
  • Enable investment teams to:
    • Identify opportunities for:
      • Enhanced insight.
      • Automation.
      • Increased efficiency.
  • Provide lightweight solutions where needed:
    • Examples: Dashboards, tactical tooling.
    • Prioritise speed and simplicity.
  • Track benefits realisation, focusing on:
    • Adoption.
    • Measurable outcomes (not just delivery).

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate should be: A self-starter who thrives in ambiguity—comfortable shaping a new role from scratch and building credibility quickly.

  • Bias for action: Deliver tangible outcomes at pace.
  • Effective at strategic and hands-on levels, comfortable in:
    • Senior Leadership Team (SLT) discussions.
    • Technical platform details.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with:
    • Ability to challenge constructively.
    • Confidence to influence without direct authority.
