Role Description

The Private Sector Housing Team Leader is a full-time role responsible for overseeing the delivery of private sector housing services within West Lancashire. Based in Skelmersdale with a hybrid working arrangement, the role combines office-based work with some flexibility to work from home. Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Leading and supervising a team
  • Managing caseloads related to private sector housing issues
  • Ensuring that housing standards and regulatory requirements are met
  • Coordinating responses to complex housing cases
  • Working closely with internal departments and external partners
  • Providing guidance to residents and landlords on housing options, enforcement, and support
  • Monitoring performance
  • Preparing reports
  • Contributing to service improvement
  • Supporting the development of policies and procedures that promote safe, secure, and well-managed private sector housing

Qualifications

  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills, including experience managing teams and coordinating workloads.
  • Background in housing, with knowledge of private sector housing issues.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with residents, landlords, colleagues, and partner agencies.
  • Experience in case management, including handling complex cases, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring timely resolutions.
  • Knowledge of relevant housing legislation, regulation, and best practice, particularly in the private rented sector.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work to deadlines.
  • Proficiency in using IT systems and software for case recording, reporting, and communication.
  • A relevant qualification in Environmental Health, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive service delivery.
