Private Wealth Management, Strategic Investment Strategy Group, Analyst/Associate, London

Private Wealth Management (PWM) secures, develops, and manages relationships with high net worth individuals, their families, family offices, and foundations. PWM assists clients with:

  • Building and preserving their financial wealth.
  • Creating and implementing long-term asset allocation tailored to each client’s risk tolerance.
  • Providing access to innovative investment ideas and opportunities.
  • Offering a full range of wealth management products and services, including private banking and trust company services.

Your Impact

The Investment Strategy Group (ISG), within the Asset & Wealth Management Division of Goldman Sachs, provides tailored asset allocation solutions to help clients preserve and grow their wealth.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Developing and analyzing customized asset allocation solutions for clients.
  • Collaborating with colleagues and private wealth advisors to gather and assess client information.
  • Researching, crafting, and presenting customized asset allocation solutions as reports and presentations.
  • Supporting the team’s research initiatives in:
    • Asset allocation modeling and analysis.
    • Individual asset classes and investment strategies.
  • Providing financial guidance to the Private Wealth Management team.
  • Managing operational duties, including:
    • Maintaining presentations, client meeting records, and data.

Core Tasks:

  • Help craft customized asset allocation solutions using ISG’s standardized models.
  • Generate in-depth research reports and customized presentations for clients.
  • Assist research projects on issues related to asset class strategies and modeling.
  • Aid the PWM team with tailored asset allocation guidance.
  • Conduct general business support—administrative records, presentations, data management.

Requirements

Successful candidates will meet or exceed the following criteria:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Finance with a quantitative focus (e.g., financial mathematics, quantitative finance, financial engineering, or financial econometrics).
  • Strong interest in financial markets with a demonstrated ability to evaluate innovative investment opportunities.
  • Deep understanding of current academic research and industry best practices in investment management.
  • Proficiency in one or more European language(s)—a strong advantage.
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to:
    • Simplify technical concepts for clients.
    • Engage confidence-building conversations.
  • Client-focused mindset, combining interpersonal skills with patience, thoroughness, and adaptability.
  • Proven ability to multi-task under pressure while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, analytical, and proactive—happy to operate both independently and as part of a team.
  • Solid quantitative and analytical judgment with:
    • A recognized STEM-related bachelor’s degree (e.g., Physics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Statistics, Computer Science, or Machine Learning); or
    • An Economics bachelor’s degree paired with a quantitative postgraduate finance degree.

Technical Assets:

  • Working proficiency in Python programming; industry-level Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment.
  • Flourishes in dynamic contexts where quick decision-making and rigorous analysis are critical.
