Process Controller
United Utilities: Water Treatment Plant Operator
Salary: £40,232 plus shift allowance Location: Onsite at Wybersley Water Treatment Works, Andrew Lane, High Lane, Stockport, SK6 8HY Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time (37.0 hours per week) Duration (Temporary): Shift arrangement of four 12-hour shifts (2 days + 2 nights) for 2 years, followed by standard contractual hours

Key Responsibilities
You’ll operate and enhance the production of water treatment assets, ensuring performance, health & safety compliance, and customer standards. Critical tasks include:

Operating & Optimising treatment site processes:
- Aligning with Quality Assurance (QA) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Building strong operational team relationships.
- Proactively resolving potential industry or service disruptions.

Assigned Duties:
- Complete scheduled cyclic tasks and document reactive tasks promptly.
- Draft accurate performance data (relatable, reliable, and comprehensive).
- Investigate recurring process issues, recommending corrective actions.

Temporary Rota Requirement:
- Training time permitting, you’ll participate in out-of-hours operating response protocols.

Development & Compliance:
- Pursuing relevant accredited qualifications or certifications.
- Attending targeted training (H&S, technical, and soft-skills).

Requirements
To excel, you'll need:
Education & Licensing
- A minimum of 5 GCSEs (grades A-C or equivalent), including:
- Maths
- English
- Science/Technology
- A proper full driving licence (essential for on-site operations).
Technical & Cognitive Skills
- Strong numeracy and computer proficiency in multi-platform reporting systems.
- Self-motivated, independent problem solver with resilience.
- Proficient in diagnostics, planning, and organisational techniques.
- Exemplary safety disciplines and adherence to statutory regulations/works procedures.
Additional Qualities
- Must operate effectively both independently & in team settings.
- Demonstrates clear career ambitions and desire for professional development.
Important Notes
Successful candidates will receive:
- A standard employment contract (with an amended TCTC document outlining the temporary shift conditions).
- An envisioned return to core shift regulation post two years.
