Process Development Engineer

Location: Wotton under Edge Salary: Up to £34,000 (depending on experience)


About the Role

Renishaw is seeking to recruit a Process Development Engineer to join the New Products Integration (NPI) area of the Industrial Metrology Group (IMG). This role focuses on the design, development, and introduction of innovative, capable, and effective assembly processes, transitioning prototypes into full production.


Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with product design teams to develop assembly strategies for new products.
  • Translate product design requirements into manufacturable processes.
  • Design, develop, and introduce processes for assembly and testing of new products.
  • Prove build strategies through pilot validation batches.
  • Project manage the sourcing, supply, and manufacture of equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure new processes are safe, controlled, robust, capable, and efficient.
  • Leverage production control technology where applicable.
  • Report on process development to facilitate smooth product transfer to manufacturing sites.

Key Requirements

  • Education: Minimum HNC-level qualification in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Systems Engineering
    • Production Engineering
    • Mechatronics
    • Automation Engineering
  • Or: Demonstrated relevant experience if formal qualifications are absent.
  • Experience in developing fully validated and documented assembly processes.
  • Involvement in new product launches, meeting time, cost, and quality targets.
  • Ability to reduce manufacturing risks through robust process design.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement in yield, FTPR, efficiency, and cost.

Desirable Qualifications

  • Previous experience in precision assembly process development.
  • Knowledge of DfA (Design for Assembly), DfM (Design for Manufacture), Process FMEA, or Six Sigma.
  • Understanding of production assembly techniques and their application.
