Process Engineer
Process Engineer – Semiconductor Manufacturing

As a Process Engineer, you will be part of the Engineering team at our manufacturing site, supporting the optimisation, control, and continuous improvement of semiconductor manufacturing processes. You will focus particularly on process capability, yield, and device performance, including diffusion, thermal processing, and related areas.
About the Role

Take ownership of assigned semiconductor manufacturing processes, with a particular emphasis on:
- Diffusion
- Thermal processing
- Metallisation
- Other related manufacturing processes

Optimise and control process parameters to ensure stable, capable, and repeatable manufacturing performance.

Develop, refine, and maintain process recipes through data-driven experimentation and analysis.

Monitor process performance using SPC (Statistical Process Control) while reporting key metrics on:
- Process yield
- Performance trends

Analyse data across:
- Process
- Electrical
- Metrology
- Yield to identify:
- Trends
- Process variations
- Yield loss mechanisms
- Improvement opportunities

Investigate production issues using structured problem-solving methodologies:
- 8D
- 5-Why
- A3
- Or similar techniques

Proactively identify, troubleshoot, and resolve process-related issues with implemented corrective and preventive actions.

Collaborate effectively in cross-functional teams to address complex manufacturing challenges.

Develop, review, and maintain:
- Work instructions
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Process instructions
- Risk assessments
- COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) documentation

Support the creation of training materials and provide technical guidance to:
- Technicians
- Operators

Communicate clearly with stakeholders on:
- Process performance
- Technical findings
- Risks
- Recommendations

Contribute to Lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Responsibilities
- Design ownership for assigned semiconductor processes.
- Optimise process parameters ensuring stability and repeatability.
- Refine process recipes through data-driven experimentation.
- Monitor and track process performance via SPC-Software.
- Analyse process, electrical, metrology, and yield data for trends and root causes.
- Implement problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, 5-Why) to investigate and resolve production issues.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives with data-driven decisions.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective action plans.
- Develop and maintain related process documentation (SOPs, risk assessments, etc.).
- Collaborate with Product Yield Engineering, Quality Control, and Operations to eliminate process variations.
- Support the implementation of Lean techniques and Lean Six Sigma principles.
- Guide technicians and operators on best practices for process execution.
Requirements
- HNC/HND or a degree in Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Demonstrated experience in semiconductor or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data (process, yield, electrical, metrology).
- Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) and other data analysis tools.
- Knowledge of structured problem-solving methodologies (8D, A3, 5-Why).
- Experience with Design of Experiments (DOE) would be advantageous.
- Solid understanding of semiconductor concepts, especially:
- Diffusion
- Thermal processing
- Metallisation process knowledge would be an advantage.
- Experience with thin-film deposition techniques (e.g., e-beam deposition).
- Effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
- Self-motivated, organised, and proactive in taking ownership of technical challenges.
- Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification or similar continuous improvement experience is a plus.
