Process Engineer
Yolk Recruitment is supporting the recruitment of an experienced Process Engineer to join a growing Engineering team based in Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with experience in manufacturing processes, metallurgy, materials, and continuous improvement to play a key role in developing robust production processes, improving quality, and supporting the manufacture of complex high-performance components.
Working within a specialist casting environment, this role offers the opportunity to apply your technical expertise to process optimisation, root cause analysis, qualification activities, and engineering improvement projects while working closely with production teams, customers, and internal stakeholders.
The successful candidate will support metallurgical process development, investigate manufacturing issues, drive continuous improvement, and deliver cost-effective production solutions.

Key responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain robust process engineering activities across the casting operation.
- Provide technical support to production teams to ensure high-quality castings are produced to customer specifications.
- Develop and qualify stable, repeatable manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements.
- Review product designs and specifications to ensure compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements.
- Prepare customer qualification reports and technical documentation.
- Coordinate engineering activities relating to technical developments, project scheduling, and resolution of metallurgical issues.
- Review and approve customer specifications relating to metallurgical requirements.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance process capability, quality, and efficiency.
- Support programme management activities for individual parts and engineering projects.
- Investigate manufacturing issues through root cause analysis and structured problem-solving techniques.
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process improvements and waste elimination.
- Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams to understand technical requirements and resolve issues.

- Strong engineering background with experience in process engineering, manufacturing, or a related technical environment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Excellent organisational and planning skills
- Experience within casting, metallurgy, materials engineering, or aerospace manufacturing would be advantageous.
