About the Role
As a Process Engineer, you will lead and optimise semiconductor manufacturing processes, with a focus on:
- Diffusion & thermal processing
- Metallisation & thin film deposition (e.g., e-beam)
Collaborating with Product Yield Engineering, Quality, Operations, Maintenance, and EH&S, your role encompasses:
- Process ownership – from troubleshooting to continuous improvement.
- Data-driven problem-solving – analysing process, yield, metrology, and electrical data.
- Process capability & SPC – monitoring performance with statistical rigor.
- Root-cause analysis – using methodologies like 8D, 5-Why, A3, or DOE.
- Documentation & training – maintaining SOPs, work instructions, and technical training.
- Cross-functional leadership – driving global Lean/Six Sigma and high-yield manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities
Process Optimisation
- Take ownership of assigned semiconductor processes, including diffusion, metallisation, and thermal treatment.
- Optimise and stabilise process parameters for high-yield, repeatable manufacturing.
- Develop and refine process recipes using data-driven experimentation.
Performance & Data Management
- Monitor Statistical Process Control (SPC) metrics, reporting yield and performance trends.
- Investigate process anomalies with structured methodologies (e.g., 8D, A3).
- Conduct post-mortems on yield loss, linking data with technical fixes.
Analysis & Troubleshooting
- Collaborate with Quality, Operations, and Maintenance to resolve complex issues.
- Identify continuous improvement opportunities via Lean Six Sigma principles.
Documentation & Communication
- Maintain process-related documentation (SOPs, COSHH assessments, risk reviews).
- Create training materials and brief teams on technical processes.
- Present findings to Engineering Manager and stakeholders with clarity.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree (BSc/HND) in Engineering, Physics, or related disciplines (or equivalent industrial experience).
- Absolute essential: Hands-on experience with semiconductor/advanced manufacturing (diffusion, thermal processing preferred).
- Proven experience with SPC tools and data analysis for manufacturing.
- Fluency in structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D, A3, 5-Why).
- DOE (Design of Experiments) knowledge – bonus.
- Familiarity with metallisation processes (e.g., MEB) or thin film deposition (e.g., e-beam) – advantageous.
