Process Engineer – UK Water/Wastewater

Water | Wastewater | Biosolids/Sludge | AMP 8 | SROs | MEP-Led Team

Shape the future of water infrastructure with Egis.

Locations: London, Bristol, Manchester (Hybrid) Focus: Process Engineering Design | Impact: UK-Wide | Culture: High-Growth, Agile Environment

Egis is rapidly expanding in the UK, supported by a global team of over 23,500 experts across 70+ countries. We design and deliver intelligent, sustainable infrastructure to tackle climate challenges and strengthen community resilience. As part of our growing UK Water team, you’ll join an environment where growth is fast, visibility is high, and your impact is immediate.

About the Role

The UK water sector is undergoing a period of unprecedented investment and transformation. As Egis accelerates growth in its Water Business across the UK, we are building a high-performing Process Engineering team to shape this critical phase.

We are seeking applicants who want to contribute meaningfully to major UK water and wastewater programmes, spanning municipal and industrial sectors. In a multi-disciplinary, collaborative setting, you will help deliver technically robust, sustainable and innovative treatment solutions for nationally significant projects.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join at a pivotal stage in our UK expansion: shaping, establishing, and growing a talent-centric process engineering capability, built on Egis’ global expertise and long-term commitment to water infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to process design packages at all stages (feasibility, optioneering, concept, outline, and detailed design) for UK water/wastewater treatment projects.
  • Prepare critical deliverables under senior guidance:
    • Process calculations & mass balances
    • Basis of design reports
    • Process flow diagrams (PFDs)
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
    • Sketches, datasheets, schedules & technical notes
  • Support option development, treatment process selection and assessment of hydraulic/process capacity and existing treatment assets.
  • Conduct site visits, asset surveys, and data collection, engaging with operators, suppliers, and technology providers.
  • Collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams (Mechanical, EICA, Civil/Structural, Architectural, and Construction) to align technical recommendations.
  • Contribute to design and operational safety studies, including:
    • HAZOP, SWIFT, DSEAR
    • Health and Safety (HAC/HAP) reviews
    • CDM/safety-by-design assessments
  • Utilise spreadsheets, process tools, data analysis, and modelling/simulation to inform evidence-based design decisions.
  • Support contractor/supplier evaluations, technical queries, commissioning strategies, performance testing, and handover processes as required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
