At Amazon we believe that every day is still day one. A day to take the first step, look forward to new challenges, and make your ideas come to life. That's the energy and passion behind Amazon, and today is your day to be part of it.

The Process Improvement Specialist leads and develops Customer Delivery Excellence across Amazon's European middle-mile operations, including Sort Centres, cross-docks, and inbound cross-dock nodes, in a cross-functional environment with Operations, Analytics, Transportation, and stakeholders across the Supply Chain.

In this role you will bring proven performance management mechanisms from Amazon's Fulfilment Centres and scale them across the middle mile. You will establish a structured daily performance management cadence that gives operations clear visibility of the metrics that drive on-time, reliable, and cost-efficient delivery, managing the in-process measures that protect customer outcomes before misses occur.

You will define and monitor relevant metrics, connect them to shop-floor processes, and identify opportunities for performance improvement along with corrective and preventive actions. A key focus of this role is driving container fill rate improvement, a priority requested by our network partners, reducing wasted transport capacity and unnecessary cost across the middle mile.

You will provide in-depth data analysis for decision-making, develop projects and initiatives, and present them to senior management at regional level. While we centre on EU, you will own the design and roll-out of your initiatives with the potential to scale globally.

The role requires the ability to communicate and influence at all levels, strong process understanding, and a solid analytical background. You will strive to excel against Amazon's highest standards, increasing customer satisfaction by providing fast, reliable, world-class service. The successful candidate will have strong project management skills, operations management experience, and analytical capability, and will be comfortable facilitating ideas and working from concept to execution.

We are seeking someone with passion for process improvement and program management, and a background in Operations, Transportation, Supply Chain, or Analytics, to join our EU team. You want to find out what we do not know yet and equip your stakeholders with the data to make the right decisions for a superb customer delivery experience.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Establish and lead a structured daily performance management cadence across middle-mile nodes, scaling proven Fulfilment Centre mechanisms to Sort Centres and cross-docks.
  • Drive container fill rate improvement, reducing under-utilised trucks and volume left on site, as a priority workstream requested by our network partners.
  • Act as an ambassador and enabler for our front-line teams, making sure we detect problems ahead of customer impact, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Define, monitor, and connect the metrics that drive on-time, reliable, and cost-efficient delivery to shop-floor processes.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders (Operations, Central Flow, Supply Chain, Transportation, Commercial Carrier teams, and ICQA).
  • Implement new processes and methodologies across the organisation, building local capability so improvements sustain without constant central support.
  • Develop assessments and reports to quickly understand the business impact of trends and make decisions based on available data.
  • Deliver reporting and analysis through tools, portals, and reports; pull and report data from multiple databases (using Excel, SQL, and/or other data management systems) and perform ad hoc analysis as required (coding skills are optional).
  • Travel up to 30% of the time to support site roll-outs and stakeholder engagement.

About the Team

The Global Operational Excellence (GOX) team, part of the EU STEP (Supply Chain, Transportation Planning & Operational Excellence) organisation, is the engine of operational excellence across Amazon's fulfilment network. Our mission is to give operations the capabilities, tools, and daily management mechanisms to deliver flawless fulfilment: on time, at speed, and at the lowest possible cost. We build the standards, training, and routines that turn performance into a managed system rather than a daily fire-fight, and our work spans Fulfilment Centres, Sort Centres, and the wider middle-mile network.
