Process Improvement Engineer

Process Engineering Specialist – Optical / Electro-Mechanical Assembly

Critical Role – Fun & Challenging Environment

Responsible for delivering innovative, efficient, and capable process engineering projects within a high-variety, high-complexity, precision optical/electro-mechanical assembly environment. This position offers significant impact opportunities to enhance productivity and efficiency across key production lines—critical to our business success.

About the Role

This is a highly varied position, requiring a mix of technical expertise, data analysis, and cross-level communication skills. On-the-job training, structured courses (e.g., Lean Six Sigma), and managerial feedback will guide integration into the team and working environment.

  • Note to graduates: New or recent engineering, physics, and maths graduates are encouraged to apply. No sponsorship available.
  • Logistics: Personal transport is advantageous due to our remote location (public transport unreliable).

Key Responsibilities

As the process expert and primary production liaison, you will advise on design changes, assembly impacts, and volume scalability initiatives. Responsibilities include:

  • Proactive process improvement: Support for product robustness, cost reduction (product cost, cost of quality), process control, efficiency gains, and modelling.
  • Problem-solving: Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions under tight deadlines.
  • Continuous improvement: Drive improvements using fact-based metrics and data-driven decisions.
  • Process data analysis: Justify improvements via performance analytics.
  • Technical design & implementation:
    • Design assembly processes, jigs, fixtures, and tooling.
    • Evaluate and process design changes and their adoption impacts.
    • Specify and implement new process equipment.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Regular interaction with product divisions and manufacturing services.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
