Operations Recovery Plant Technician – 12-Hour Shift Rota

The Role
Responsible for operation of an antibiotics recovery plant under a 12-hour, 5-shift rota, delivering annual committed volumes with budgeted efficiency. Ensure safe plant operations and high quality standards are maintained, taking autonomous ownership to resolve process issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Plant Operation:
- Operate manual and computer-controlled manufacturing plant equipment in compliance with cGMP requirements
- Monitor plant performance to identify and resolve deviations, aligning with efficiency targets
- Ensure safe operation, adhering to EHS procedures and permit-to-work protocols

Process & Quality Support:
- Support raw material receipt, sampling, warehousing, and product dispatch
- Conduct routine sampling and analytical activities
- Maintain accurate, compliant documentation (batch records, logs, SAP entries)

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement:
- Work collaboratively with the team to resolve production issues and drive process enhancements
- Coach team members in best practices and shift operations
What You Need to Succeed
Minimum Qualifications
-
Experience with process plant equipment (pumps, valves, isolations, unit operations)

Familiarity with control systems (HMI) and computerised monitoring

Technical Operations background, preferably in bulk processing or manufacturing sectors

Experience with:
- Safe Systems of Work (SSoW)
- LOTO protocols, hazard awareness, and incident reporting
- Shift-based operations blending control room and manual intervention

Proven problem-solving and action execution skills

Understanding of quality system compliance (GxP regulatory expectations)

Industry Alignment: Experience in chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical, or food processing

Personal Commitment: Strong adherence to a safety-first culture
Competitive Advantage (Preferred Qualifications)
- Experience in recovery plants or equivalent production environments (e.g., solvent recovery, recyclable material processing)
- DeltaV or similar control systems experience
- Water extraction / drying systems familiarity
- Regulatory Depth: Knowledge of cGMP, FDA, or MHRA requirements
- Heavy vehicle experience: FLT licence (where applicable)
- Deviation Management: Experience with CAPA processes (corrective action & preventive action)
