Position Summary Magellan Aerospace in Wrexham offers an exciting opportunity for a Process Operator - Level 2 in a surface treatments environment for aircraft parts.
Employment Type & Details
- Full-time, permanent position
- 37 hours per week (+5 overtime)
- Shifts: Days and Nights
- Location: Rackery Lane, Llay, Wrexham, LL12 0PB
- Site Type: Unionised (partners with Unite the Union)
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Visual inspection of aircraft parts for damage, confirming full treatments coverage
- Documentation to verify processes adherence (SOPs, 6S standards)
- Manual handling of parts using cranes, forklifts, or lifting equipment
- Tromatic treatments such as chromic anodising
- Third-party collaboration with quality, production, and engineering teams
Key Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with documentation, quality, and safety standards:
✅ Production Handling
- Verify parts accuracy against job cards
- Load/unload parts manually or via crane/lift truck
✅ Process Execution
- Process aircraft parts through treatment (e.g., chromic anodising)
- Visually inspect for defects and treatment success
- Interpret, read, and follow engineering drawings/SOPs independently
✅ Continuous Improvement
- Proactively suggest process enhancements, especially for new products
- Drive 6S improvements—environmental and workflow optimisation
- Support root cause analysis and corrective actions for non-conformities

✅ Quality & Logistics
- Attend daily SQCDP meetings (Safety, Quality, Continuous Improvement)
- Manage load plans to meet sales deadlines
- Calibrate and validate monitoring equipment; escalate calibration issues
✅ Safety & Waste
- Oversee hazardous waste disposal
- Maintain consistent conduct with OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) requirements
Requirements
Academic
- Forklift/crane/combi-lift licence (advantageous)
Experience
- Shift-work experience (preferred)
- Aerospace surface treatments or related manufacture experience
Competencies
- Decision-making in fast-paced environments
- Problem-solving with logical analysis
- Multi-tasking under time constraints
- Clear communication (verbal/written)
